Commensurate with her jersey retirement this past Sunday, Mueller would like to congratulate Alex Morgan on a legendary career, both at the club level and with the U.S. National Team, where she led the team to two World Cup titles and an Olympic gold medal.
Off the field, Alex has been equally impactful. She is a champion of gender equity, U.S. National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) player rights and even launched the Alex Morgan Foundation to help empower women in both sports and life.
For years, Alex has been a valued partner at Mueller Sports Medicine. Alex’s partnership with Mueller began in 2012 when she became an ambassador for Mueller’s iconic MWrap®.
At its core, MWrap® is designed to provide a protective barrier between skin and athletic tape. However, MWrap® is unique in its multifunctionality as it can also be used to hold pads and socks in place, as a protective wrap inside athletic footwear, and to keep hair out of an athlete’s face. Alex used it for the latter for her entire career.
In a recent interview with The New York Times, Alex described how her natural use of MWrap® made her partnership with Mueller unique. “I think my story with Mueller is a good one, because for most of my career, brands would come to me with their creative ideas about how they wanted to use me,” Alex said. “With Mueller, it was the opposite. I was already using their product authentically, and I wanted to partner with them.”
Alex specifically wore pink MWrap®, a color that carried deep personal meaning. She first chose it so her mother could easily spot her on the field, but it soon took on a deeper significance as a tribute to her husband’s mother during her battle with breast cancer. Over the years, the pink headband became her signature look, helping her stand out on the field and inspiring young girls to wear pink in her honor as she rose to international superstardom.
Alex’s partnership with Mueller continued to grow over the years as her pink headband became increasingly iconic. Alex became the face of MWrap®, being showcased on packaging, leading MWrap® headband tutorials and even teaming up with Mueller to send a fan to Orlando for a Meet and Greet experience.
Alex’s partnership with Mueller helped drive Mueller MWrap® to the very top. Mueller’s President, John Cayer, spoke on her importance to the Mueller brand. “Alex has been a legendary partner to Mueller Sports Medicine. Not only is she one of the best athletes in history, she is a phenomenal person off the field.
